There are many high-resolution wind models available, but there are few observational datasets available to evaluate these models. The pages below briefly summarize two field studies conducted by our group to collect high-resolution wind data that can be used to evaluate such models. See the link on the sidebar to the full paper for more details.

This data comes from: High-resolution observations of the near-surface wind field over an isolated mountain and in a steep river canyon

Big Southern Butte

High-resolution observations of the near-surface wind field over an isolated mountain.

Salmon River Canyon

High-resolution observations of the near-surface wind field in a steep river canyon

WindNinja in the Field

Case studies and fire assessments where WindNinja was used.

WindNinja on the Cougar Creek Fire
